I was working at a yard when I decided to sign up for the Class 1 Driver Training. I get the Skills Training, Employment and Post-Secondary (STEPS) newsletter MNBC sends; that’s how I found out about the course.
I always knew MNBC had education opportunities; my sister and brother both received support from the Nation. However, when I saw a training opportunity that related to my current industry, I jumped at the chance. Especially because BC would be introducing the Mandatory Entry-Level Training, this meant it would be harder to obtain my Class 1 Driver’s License. Thankfully, I no longer have to worry about that.
After completing the training, I transitioned into a new position with the same company I was with. This meant more responsibilities and more hours, but it also meant more pay!
Thanks to the training I got through MNBC, I upgraded my skills which means full-time work and working my way up the ranks to better positions.
