I always wanted to be a teacher but never thought I would have the means to go to university. I decided to take the leap and I began university in 2011. After a few years, I had my son and had to take some time off of school. After my second child was born, I decided it was time to go back and finish my degree. I was accepted into the Bachelor of Education program and began in September of 2020. It has been a challenge, and a big learning curve learning in an online setting for the first year of the program. I was able to finish my first year with straight A+’s and made the dean’s list — an accomplishment I never thought I could have ever received. I am currently finishing the last year of the program and will be able to graduate in April 2022. Since I have been sponsored by MNBC, I have had the opportunity to be published in an Indigenous research journal called Knowledge Makers, two times. It is a passion of mine to share the knowledge I have acquired through my time at TRU. I am proud to be an academic and very proud to be Métis. Maarsii!
